REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
Redevelopment Commission
The West Baden Springs Redevelopment Commission is responsible for guiding economic growth and revitalization projects within the town, focusing on areas that need redevelopment or new investment.
In Indiana, redevelopment commissions are empowered by state law to designate redevelopment areas, prepare economic development plans, and oversee projects that improve infrastructure, housing, and commercial opportunities. In West Baden Springs, this means the commission plays a key role in shaping the town’s future by managing initiatives such as park upgrades, sidewalk improvements, flood mitigation, and community facilities—projects that enhance quality of life and attract new businesses. The commission also has authority to establish Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts, which allow the town to reinvest property tax revenues from new development back into local improvements.
Beyond financing, the commission works closely with civic leaders and regional partners to ensure redevelopment aligns with community priorities. For example, recent projects supported by redevelopment efforts have included multi-use trails, playgrounds, and ADA-accessible amenities at West Baden Springs Community Park, funded through state and regional development initiatives. Altogether, the Redevelopment Commission serves as a bridge between local government, residents, and investors—ensuring that growth in West Baden Springs is both sustainable and beneficial to the community.
