BOARDS  &  COMMISSIONS

Board  and  Commissions

The Board of Commissioners in West Baden, Indiana, serves as the town’s executive body, overseeing local governance and ensuring that essential services and civic responsibilities are carried out.

In practice, the commissioners are responsible for transacting the business of the county and town, which includes managing budgets, approving contracts, and overseeing public construction projects. They play a central role in public safety, public health, and transportation planning, ensuring that residents have access to reliable infrastructure and services. Commissioners also handle public records, purchasing, and labor matters, making decisions that directly affect how the town operates day to day. In addition, West Baden’s representatives participate in regional planning efforts through the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission, where they collaborate with neighboring towns and counties to strengthen the local economy, improve infrastructure, and guide long-term development. Altogether, the board’s work ensures that West Baden remains a well-managed community, balancing local needs with broader county and regional priorities.
